Sweet & Sour Dumplings

Print Recipe
Rule #1 you should always have dumplings in the freezer
Rule #2 the more dumplings you eat, the more money you’ll make
I always have Mr Chen's dumplings in the freezer, which means I'm always looking for new ways to spice up my dumplings! Here's how I've been enjoying them lately – Sweet and Sour dumplings. The soup is savory, sweet, spicy, tangy, and full of flavor. You can adjust the amount of spice depending on your spice tolerance.

Ingredients

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 4 tbsp oil I use avocado oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 1/2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, but makes it sweet
  • 1-1 1.2 cups hot dumpling water (water leftover from cooking dumplings)
  • 10-12 dumplings of choice

Optional to garnish

  • 1 tbsp chilli oil
  • handful of coriander

Instructions

  • While you boil your dumplings in a pot, prepare the sweet and sour dumplings sauce.
  • Add green onion, garlic, red chili flakes, and sesame seeds in a bowl.
  • In a small pot, heat up 4 tablespoons of oil. Once the oil is hot, pour the hot oil into the bowl to enhance the flavor of each ingredient.
  • Next, add soy sauce, vinegar and honey.
  • Pour in hot water from cooking the dumplings, and add in the cooked dumpling. Garnish with chilli oil and coriander, and enjoy!
