These Air Fryer Protein Cheese Bites are one of those viral recipes that actually live up to the hype. Crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy inside, they taste like little mozzarella-stick-meets-cheese-ball bites – but with just two ingredients and surprisingly high protein. They’re naturally low carb, gluten free, and incredibly easy to make in the air fryer. Perfect as a high protein snack, appetiser, or crunchy side dish dipped into warm marinara sauce.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Only 2 ingredients
  • High protein and low carb
  • Crispy outside with gooey cheesy centre
  • Gluten free and keto friendly

Serving Ideas & Variations

Ingredients

  • 2 cups finely shredded parmesan cheese 170 g (low fat cheese also works)
  • 1/4 cup egg whites 70 g
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix together the finely shredded parmesan cheese and egg whites until fully combined. If your cheese is not finely shredded, you can throw the ingredients in a food processor or blender.
  • Roll the mixture into tightly packed 1-inch balls.
  • Place onto a plate or tray and freeze for 2 hours. You can also bake it straight away if you don't care about their aesthetic.
  • Air fry at 200°C/400°F for 10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve immediately with marinara sauce or your favourite dip.

Notes

  • Do not use whole eggs or the bites may taste too eggy.
  • Freezing helps the bites hold their shape during cooking.
  • Best eaten fresh while crispy.
