HEALTHY GUMMY BEARS! So delicious, easy, and way healthier than store-bought gummy bears!
You can use whatever fruit you like! For red, use strawberries or raspberries. For yellow, use kiwifruit or mango. For green, I use spinach and add some ginger kombucha for extra sweetness and flavour. For purple, I use blueberries.
Recipe video HERE.
Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup (140g/5oz) fruit of choice, chopped (fresh or frozen and defrosted )
- 1/2 cup (100ml/4floz) water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 4 tsp gelatin or agar agar for vegan*
Method
- Puree the fruit in a food processor until smooth.
- Combine all ingredients except gelatin in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir with a whisk.
- When it comes to a simmer gradually whisk the gelatin into the mixture, stirring constantly, until well combined and gelatine is completely melted – it will be a glassy, smooth consistency. (Avoid dumping gelatin into the pan all at once as it will cause big globs of gelatin to remain in finished product.)
- Take it off the heat and pass it through a sieve to remove any gelatin or fruit chunks.
- Place gummy bear mold on a chopping board (which makes it easier to move without spilling once filled). Pour mixture into mold and place in the fridge for a minimum of 6 hours. Pop any air bubbles with a toothpick.
Pop gummy bears out of mold and store in an airtight container in the fridge. They will keep in the refrigerator for a few weeks.
Tip
I use grass-fed gelatin for the highest quality.
No gummy bear mold? You can also pour mixture into a small baking tray lined with cling wrap. After mixture is set, slice with a knife or use cookie cutters to create any shape you like. You can even use an ice cube tray.
For vegan gummies replace the gelatin with Agar Agar Powder (a plant based setting agent)
– Alcoholic Gummy Bears for fun – I love using rosé! Just substitute the fruit and water for 1 cup of rosé, and when simmering keep the temp under 160°C/320°F to keep the alcohol in 🌹🍷

Can I use chia seeds to make the vegan egg instead of flax? If so should I use the same measurement? Thanks
